Nicole by OPI – You’re an Angel

Nicole by OPI – You’re an Angel

Pink really isn’t a color that goes along with my personality, but I couldn’t resist.  This polish had a certain je ne sais quoi that attracted me to it.  Maybe it was the ever so slight shimmer with a touch of gold, or maybe I was just feeling girly 🙂

Either way – it came home with me.  Also, it didn’t hurt that my local drug store was selling off a huge chunk of their Nicole by OPI polishes for 75% off 😉

This mani was inspired by a multitude of manicures from this blog here.  She is so good with her scotch tape manicures, that it actually looks easy.  Unfortunately.  It’s not.  Time and time again, I try different designs with tape, but I just can’t get a smooth line.  It’s so frustrating!!

Here’s my try 🙂 :

As much fun as I had with the challenge…..it’s nice to be back on my own schedule.

The links for the participants themed manicures are still up for viewing, if anyone wants to take a peak at some awesome creations.  To the right is a link to the Pre Spring Challenge, and you will find each days entries linked there.

Revlon Girly Review / Photos

Another interesting, pretty, glittery polish from Revlon!  They have stepped up their game 🙂

This polish is from their most recent 2013 release.  I have a couple of others from the new collection, but I’ll start with this one.

Girly, is a pale pink/lilac milky base, with a ton of various colors and sizes of hex glitter.  It is extremely sheer, so I wore a pale pink creme polish as a base before applying Girly.

As with most glitter polishes, I had to do a little rearranging of the glitter to space it evenly – so make sure you put a topcoat over whatever base color you choose (if you choose) – so there is a layer protecting the color from the glitter.  The glitter might mush up the base color while spreading it around to arrange it – and they will start blending together.

Enough with the chit chat – on to the photos!

Layla Soft Touch Turquoise Splash… Part 2 – Without a top coat!

As I mentioned in yesterdays post, I was a bit of  bubble brain when I originally did my first mani with Layla Soft Touch Turquoise Splash…..no top coat required.

THESE images are what the polish is really supposed to look like 🙂

Layla Soft Touch Turquoise Splash

Such a beautiful polish – unfortunately, I didn’t realize until after I finished this manicure (this was from a few weeks back) that it shouldn’t have a top coat, if you want to have the “soft touch” effect.  (almost matte, but not quite….just soft…as they say 🙂 )

So, I will do a follow up post at another date, on (aside from the great color) how it will look without a shiny top coat 😉  (d’uh me, sorry lol)

Quo by Orly – Celestial Star

I’d like to start with a little bit of an apology for not being as consistent with the amount of posts I am used to normally doing, and the amount that will be lacking in the next few weeks.

Coming up, at the end of January or early February – I will be starting, what I am naming my “Indie Polish Blogathon” 🙂

Each day will feature a different indie brand, and a selection of their polishes (info and swatches).  I am getting a bit overwhelmed (and totally excited) about the actual amount of polishes that I have to swatch!  (you know how much glitter indies usually have??  I love it!!! But it’s brutal on wee little fingers and nails!!!)

But anyways – c’est la vie  – and this is not the only exciting thing coming up – but I will save that for another post 😉

On to the polish of the day!!

Orly’s Celestial Star

Very similar, in idea, to Turquoise Moonlight that I posted about a few days ago.  But this is more of a, sometimes royal blue, sometimes purple with a teeny bit of gold, micro glitter polish.  Unfortunately, I found it exceptionally difficult to capture the multi color changes and real beauty of this polish.  What do you think?

Ozotic 617 – Blue Holo – Review / Swatches

Ahhhh, sweeeet!!  This polish makes me HAPPY!!

It’s been a while since I’ve had a holo in a different brand of polish.  Ozotic is a brand I have seen, and heard great things about – so I didn’t think twice when my local (meaning Canadian) online store started carrying them, and scooping up a couple.

This holographic polish isn’t a typical holo – it seems to get it’s holographic features from actual glitter pieces, but I don’t think it does.  It’s a very nice smooth application – none of the bumpiness it should have if it was glitter.  So, I’m not sure how it is such a fantastic holo…but it is 🙂

Let’s let the photos do the talking! 🙂

How refreshing, after the disastrous day I had yesterday with that bubbly polish!

Final Thought:  Love it!  Go buy it!! 😉
